Hi and Welcome to my PLAYSTATION 3 -- CREATING A JAPANESE PSN ACCOUNT GUIDE!
This guide is to assist gamers in successfully completing a Japanese Playstation Network Account. As some of you might know, each region available on the PSN Stores has different game demos, trailers, and all that good stuff.
This is a step by step tutorial with pictures so it should be fairly easy. I apologize if it is hard to follow. I tried making it the easiest way I could think of. I will NOT be including how to add funds to a Japanese Account, as a Japanese Credit Card would be needed. My Japanese isn't that great so a couple of things may be translated incorrectly. **I highly recommend having a keyboard in hand. It is more convenient to type with rather than using the SIXAXIS, unless of
course you don't mind typing everything out with the controller.
With that being said, let's get started.

1. You will need to log into a previous User ID (not the online account) and create a new User ID. Name your account like I did here. Once you do that, go ahead and log into your newly created account. Scroll down the XMB until you find "Sign up for Playstation Network" and click that.
2. You will then be prompted to another screen that asks you if you want to create a new PSN Account, just click yes to that. Next continue onto the Registration Process screen.
3. On the Country/Region of Residence choose Japan from the drop down menu. From here on out everything will be written in
soley Japanese. You do not need to change the language setting. Enter your birthday as follows: Year/Month/Date . Once you're finished click continue.
Note: If your age is under 18 you can only sign up for a sub-account
4. The next screen asks you if you will be making this account a Master account or a Sub-account. From my previous accounts I have not noticed a difference between the Master and Sub-accounts. So, I'll continue with the Master's.
5. Now you'll see the User Agreement/Terms & Conditions just skip that and click the button on the right.
6. On the next screen, input an e-mail you'll be associating this account with*. The next two lines are for your password. Input a password with atleast 6 letters/numbers. Remember it is case sensitive! The last question is a security question; just in case you forget your password you'll be prompt with this question later. I went ahead and chose the 5th question (top to bottom) from the drop down menu. This question translates
to: "What is your pet's name?" You may choose any question from the drop down menu if you wish, just remember to input something you will remember as the answer for later use.
*Note: Only 1 e-mail address may be associated with 1 PSN ID
7. Ok so we've made it to the Online ID page. Enter the PSN ID you wish to create. Then click the button on the right.
8. On this page you must enter the following.
Line 1 : Last Name. Line 2 : First Name. Line 3 : Input your Last Name again (Romanji* Last Name). Line 4 : Input your First Name again (Romanji* First Name).
Next you have two options for gender. Left = Man, Right = Woman. I am woman so I chose the right option. Then click the button on the right.
*Note: Romanji is the english equivalent to the words written in Japanese
9. The next step is creating a Japanese address. Enter the following information as follows.
Line 1 is the Zipcode I believe. Input 5 digits ( I would advise using a lot of 2's) like I did here.
Line 2 : has a drop down menu for your city. I chose the first city from the list, but any is fine.
Line 3 : Input your name.
Line 4 : Input your Address.
Line 5 : 2nd address (optional) I just left mines blank.
Line 6: Building (name or #) I just put Tokyo and it worked fine. Next click the second button on the right and proceed.
10. This screen should read Playstation Store nitsuite. This allows you to add funds to your PSN Account. I chose the 2nd option since I won't be adding funds to this account.
11. We're almost done now. Like the English version it asks if you're interested in receiving PS newsletter and what not. Check it if you are interested and proceed by clicking the button on the right.
12. The next two screens will allow you to review your account. You may scroll through it with the arrow buttons on the page. Once you're finished click the button on the bottom.
13. Now you're in the avatar selection screen. Choose the one you desire and click the first option to proceed.
14. Finally, we get to the survey screen. It is completely optional, if you wish to take it you may. If you're more anxious to see what the Japanese Store has go ahead and choose the button on the far left hand screen. You will get a confirmation page to close the survey. Choose the first option with the arrow pointing at it. This will terminate the survey.
CONGRATULATIONS! You're now done. You may access the Japanese Store.
